Save this for the next night you want to feel a little softer.
The clocks have just turned back, the dark comes early, and the evenings feel longer. From this chair, that’s not a loss. It’s an invitation. Longer evenings are more time to be cozy.
This isn’t a strict routine. It’s a checklist you can come back to. Do three, do ten, do whichever ones the night calls for.
☐ Set the scene (when you get home)
- ☐ Change into your softest clothes right away. Leave the day at the door.
- ☐ Turn off the big overhead light. Lamps, candles, and string lights only.
- ☐ Put on a “nothing” playlist: soft, wordless, slow.
- ☐ Open a window for 60 seconds, then close it and feel how cozy the room is.
☐ Nourish
- ☐ Make a warm drink (tea, cocoa, warm milk with cinnamon) and use both hands to hold it.
- ☐ Cook something that smells good. Soup counts. Toast counts.
- ☐ Eat at the table without a screen, just once this week.
☐ Tidy, gently
- ☐ The 5-minute reset: dishes in the sink, one surface cleared, shoes lined up.
- ☐ Lay out tomorrow’s clothes. A gift to morning-you.
☐ Unwind
- ☐ Blanket on the chair. Sit. Stay a while.
- ☐ Read ten pages of something printed on paper.
- ☐ Color, knit, or doodle with your hands. (Free coloring pages.)
- ☐ Text one person goodnight.
☐ Close the day
- ☐ Write down one good thing from today, even a small one.
- ☐ Pull a card from the Calm deck and leave it on the nightstand for the morning.
Make it stick
- Save this post (or screenshot the checklist) so it’s there next time.
- Pick your “big three”, the three that feel best, and make them your nightly ritual.
- Share it with the friend who always says “I need a cozy night.”
Tell us your big three in the comments. We’re always looking for new cozy ideas.
From my chair, to yours. 🕯️
