When Worry Arrives Before Breakfast

Worry often clocks in before you do. Here is a two-minute way to meet it from the chair without solving your whole life.

Some mornings the worry is already in the kitchen when you walk in. It has opinions about the day you have not started. You do not have to debate it before coffee.

From my chair to yours, give the feeling a chair of its own. Sit. Put both feet down. Name what arrived in one plain sentence: this is worry, and it came early. Naming is not agreeing. It is refusing to let a feeling pretend it is the whole day.

One card, not the whole deck

If you have a calm card nearby, pull one. Read only the title and the first line. If you do not have a card, use this line instead: I do not have to solve this before breakfast.

Then do the smallest body thing on the card, or this one. Inhale through the nose for four. Exhale for six. Four rounds. The point is not a perfect breath. The point is a finish line the worry cannot move.

Leave the rest of the day alone

Anxiety likes to open every tab at once. Close them. Choose the next kind, ordinary step: the kettle, the shower, the shoes by the door. Do that step, then stop and notice you are still here.

If the feeling is sharp, shaking, or will not ease, this note is not a substitute for care. Use the Help page, or the local number you trust. A chair can hold a morning. It cannot hold a crisis by itself.

Come back tomorrow morning

The practice works because it is boring and repeatable. Same seat. Same size. Worry may still arrive early. You will already know where to sit when it does.
